Abstract

Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) is the ratio of the price index received by farmers (It) to the index of price paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
  • The East Java Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) in January 2022 rose 0.11 percent from 102.22 to 102.33. The increase in NTP was due to the price index received by farmers (It) which increased by 0.60 percent, higher than the price index paid by farmers (Ib) which only increased by 0.49 percent.
  • In January 2022, two agricultural sub-sectors experienced an increase in FTT while the other three sub-sectors experienced a decline. The sub-sector that experienced the largest increase in FTT occurred in the Food Crops sub-sector by 1.15 percent from 103.35 to 104.54, followed by the Livestock sub-sector by 0.17 percent from 100.60 to 100.77. Meanwhile, the sub-sector that experienced a decline was the Horticulture sub-sector by 5.04 percent from 101.38 to 96.27, followed by the People's Plantation Sub-sector by 0.37 percent from 100.36 to 99.99 and the Fisheries sub-sector by 0.06 percent from 102 .79 to 102.72.
  • Five provinces in Java that calculated NTP in January 2022, four of them experienced an increase in NTP while one did not change. The largest increase in NTP occurred in Banten Province by 1.62 percent, followed by the Special Region of Yogyakarta by 1.15 percent, West Java by 0.71 percent and East Java by 0.11 percent. Meanwhile, the Central Java Province NTP did not change.
